The Portable Digital Tiltmeter system comprises a tiltmeter assembly and a PDA. The tiltmeter contains MEMS accelerometers measuring in X and Y planes, the power supply, analogue to digital converter and a Bluetooth transmitter. Data are transmitted cable-free to the PDA and saved each time a tiltplate reading is taken. The accelerometers measure the angular difference between the sensors axis when held or placed on the tiltplate and the vertical X and Y planes. By recording each tiltplate reading on the PDA, a history of any movement of the tiltplate can quickly be built up. The software on the rugged PDA allows the user to name each tilt plate for easy identification during reading sets.
Completely redesigned to incorporate modern technology and materials, the Digital Bluetooth Tiltmeter enables quick, easy and highly accurate reading of standard tiltplates. Wireless connection between the instrument and the PDA (personal digital assistant) makes taking readings fast and simple. Strong but light the instrument can be easily carried and used by one person.
